What Will You Do Differently?
Imagine you are transported into the future 5 years to this day. You find yourself sitting in front of the desk of your Doctor. The atmosphere is somber. His facial expression mirrors twisted feelings of helplessness and sadness. "You have cancer and you only have about three months to live", is all he could utter. Imagine the flurry of emotions
piercing through your heart. 'How could this be? It normally happens to others, not to me. Why me? Why now? My children are so young!' And the thoughts race through your mind like hydrofluoric acid burns through flesh.
So many people have to experience such situations. The outcome is obvious. The solution is nowhere to be found. The regret inevitably follows: "If only I...".
Suddenly you are transported back to present day. You realise that you are still healthy and well. You have been given the opportunity to reflect upon your life and current habits and to change the ones that will cause your untimely death 5 years from now. You can begin over more intelligently, as Henry Ford used to say.
What will you do? Will you change? Will you stop smoking? Will you look at your current eating habits and start to eat healthy foods or would you still just hang out in fast food restaurants? Will you reconsider taking those supplements everybody is talking about? Or will you just recklessly keep on doing what you've always done and allow the shadow of death creep along closer and closer with every passing month?
Sure, we will all die some day, but will it not be better to at least take care of your body and live fully and God-willingly, longer?
We are the sum total of our choices. Who we are, what we are and how healthy we are is the result of the decisions we made 1 week ago, 1 month ago or 10 years ago. And the wrongs we condone soon become the nails for our coffins.
Turning back the clock will not do the trick. That will be too late. Rather do the right thing from the start. Take care of yourself! You owe it to yourself and you family.
