Peace on Earth...

"I see trees of green...red roses to...I see them bloom...for me and you...and I think to myself...what a wonderful world."

Do these words sound familiar? Can you hear the melody echo through your mind as you read them? If you can, you probably remember the hit song of Louis Armstrong: What a wonderful world.

Can you visualize a world so wonderful? Can you imagine a place where trees are covered with lush green leaves of all shapes and sizes and where gardens come alive with the most spectacular flowers of all colors and designs you have ever seen? Can you see in your mind's eye the most glorious buildings and structures man has ever gazed upon? Can you find yourself imagining a place where there is no crime, no war, no litter, no hungry people, no fights over changing of street names, no political ideologies, no financial strain, no polution, no child abuse and no natural disasters? Is there such a place?

Right now, with the world as it is, chances are that you will have to search every corner of the earth to find such a place. The world that Louis Armstrong sang about does not exist. Not today. Not here. Not on earth.

Yet, we all yearn for such a place. We fantasize over it. We dream about it and we make movies about it. We paint pictures and we conjure up poems about it. We yearn for an oasis in a desert world, a place where peace and happiness captures every part of your soul. A homeland where darkness does not prevail.

Ever since the fall of man we have been searching for this 'Eden' - this paradise. And it does exist! The promise is quite clear (Rev 21:10-27). A place is being prepared for us (John 14:2)...a place of eternal peace, joy and righteousness. Do not look to find the peace you desire on earth. Rather find it in Jesus Christ (John 14:27).

All earthly events of destruction and malice then become irrelevant! Have an eternal perspective when you look at the things happening around you! And have peace in the knowledge that you know that you know...
