HEALTHY LIVING FOR LIFE!
Do you get colds or sore throats more easily and more often and seemingly for longer periods of time?
Do you or your family currently fight chronic infections of the ears, lungs, sinus, bladder, etc.?
Is there a history of cancer in your family or are you or a family member currently suffering from cancer?
Are you or your family currently suffering from any chronic health challenge such as auto-immune disease, depression, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, allergies, asthma, etc.?
Do you or your family experience any learning or attention disorders?
If you have answered yes to any one of these questions you are joining a rapidly growing group of people around the world suffering from diseases that are more and more difficult to suppress despite the best medical advancements made in the history of mankind. What is the REALITY behind this situation? If you are serious about the health and wellness of yourself and your family, you owe it to yourself to read further!
Today, more than ever in the history of mankind, we have the ability to choose the kind of life we want to lead. We can choose the types of clothing we want to wear, the kind of car to drive and the type of home we want to live in. We can decide where we want to work and we can choose our holiday destination. We can opt to participate in sport or to embrace any other types of recreational activities.
Likewise, choosing what we want to eat or drink has never been so easy. We buy food from grocery stores or restaurants, be it five star or fast food. We are able to order take-away food at the click of a button or with a mere phone call. We can satisfy our cravings with a large tub of expertly produced ice cream or a slab of Swiss chocolate. And if we feel queasy after an oversized meal, well...we just pop a pill and we feel better.
Life has never been this good! But what is the downside of modern civilization?
Many people will agree that our fairly sophisticated and rather luxurious lifestyles have been made possible through quantum leap advancements in Technology. Our ingenuity has resulted in a great prize...the ability to have more options to choose from. And 'choice' is one of the biggest contributors to having a good lifestyle. But our ingenuity has also come with a great price to our health and wellness, one of which we are only now beginning to understand its consequences. Let us further explore this point of view.
Do you live near industrial sites or factories? If so, have you ever thought about the extent to which your health has been affected by air pollution, water pollution and soil contamination caused by pollutants from these industries? Personally, I have had to cope with years of sinus and allergy problems since my move to an industrial town. Maybe you can associate with this?
Now, one can argue that the benefits of the end products being produced by our industries outweigh our health concerns and that environmental legislation today is in anyway stringent enough to protect the environment from pollution.
Then again, how much cyanide would you need in your food to be poisoned? Can we really quantify how much pollution is tolerable to humans, animals and plants alike? Have you ever considered why cancer is spreading like wildfire even at younger ages? Why is it that more and more households around the world consume filtered water rather than 'pure' tap water? Technology has its price indeed.
Apart from technology, what is the effect of Overpopulation on our health and wellness? Apart from the disastrous ecological footprint we are leaving on mother nature due to pollution and an increased need for fossil fuels causing global warming, we are creating deserts and mineral depleted soil at rapid rates. Our resources are being destroyed at alarming rates! Malnutrition and starvation are very prevelant. As many as 400 million people are at risk of starvation due to droughts and crop failure. Can we shy away from this reality? Can we say that our health and wellness and that of millions of people around the world are not affected by overpopulation? By our lifestyle? Certainly not.
How about our bad habits? Do you know of someone who has died of smoking, alcohol abuse or AIDS because of drug abuse or sexual misconduct? For example, Statistics show that, on average, smokers die 14 years earlier than non-smokers! Yet again these habits are all lifestyle choices!
And so is lack-of-exercise. Despite most of us now knowing the benefits of exercise, many people still lead fairly inactive lifestyles. Many conditions, illnesses and diseases result from being inactive e.g. hypertension, heart disease, obesity and diabetes.
Often we say that the abovementioned 'things' will only happen to other people, not to us, and sure enough some people may be fortunate enough to escape them. But the question is this: are we really willing to live with the potential consequences of such a laid back approach to our health and wellness? Have you ever heard of terminally ill patients saying that, if they could live their lives over, they would have lived exactly the same way? That they would have kept to the same habits and lifestyles? Most likely not, unless you count insanity as one of the illnesses! Regretfully, they all wish they had been more serious about their health and wellness.
The statement "If Only..." is always too late. However, the beauty of 'choice' is that we can still make a better decision about our health and wellness before it is too late!
Ever considered what we expose our bodies to when we drink a strawberry flavoured shake from some of our famous fast food restaurants? More than 40 chemicals and not a single piece of strawberry! We might as well eat charcoal or drink a cup of crude oil (the raw material from which these chemicals are made)! And yet we pay billions of dollars every year for food and beverage producers to affect our health and wellness in a negative way.

Is the suggestion now that we must avoid the consumption of fast food? No, all of us have free choice, but at least we must be more aware of what we choose to consume and be willing to accept the consequences thereof!
Another fallacy of human nature in today's society is our desire for perfectly 'fashionable' food. We want perfectly shaped, brilliantly colored, longer lasting and better looking (untarnsihed-by-insects) types of fruits and vegetables. Farmers and suppliers consequently have to chemically alter their product to satisfy our needs and still be profitable! Farmers also have to harvest produce from the land long before natural vine ripening can take place, just to ensure that we have 'perfectly ripened' food at the stores just when we need it. The consequences of this process will be shared a little bit later on.
We also desire and crave for all kinds of processed foods and drinks such as pizzas, soft drinks, ice cream, chocolate and processed cheese. You can surely add to the list! We also consume too much refined sugars and high fat proteins and fats. In fact, we have completely turned the food pyramid upside down! Instances of obesity around the world and specifically in the Western world are growing at rapid rates. The dire consequences are rife: early deaths from heart disease, strokes, diabetes, etc.
Let me ask you this: How many portions of fruit and vegetables do you consume every day? One to three portions? Latest research shows that the recommended daily allowance (RDA) is at least 5 portions per day for minimum health benefits! Less than 15% of people follow this sound habit for optimal health!
In a food-downward-spiral as we are currently experiencing today, what is the minimum we can do to ensure some measure of health and wellness? Our best option is to supplement our food intake with properly balanced nutrients.
Typical diseases and conditions caused by our modern lifestyles are the following:
- HIV/AIDS
- Cancer
- Heart Disease
- Strokes
- Diabetes
- Alzheimer's Disease
- Parkinson's Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Osteoporosis
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
- Deep Venous Thrombosis
- Tourette's Syndrome
- Acne, and
- Gout.
You can probably add many more examples. Now we might argue that disease has always been apart of our lives since the beginning of time and we humans have to accept and deal with it. However, the tipping point in our history was the discovery of penicillin. This 'miracle' break-through was for man and medical science just as significant as landing on the moon...a giant leap forward. Or so we thought! Despite our best technological break-throughs in the health care industry, people today are getting sicker more often, for longer periods of time and the risks and results are far more serious. Our lifestyle has become a predominant factor in determining our health and wellness, or our sickness!
Right now, more and more people are looking for alternative ways and means to regain and maintain their health and wellness! If you already have a paradigm of looking after your own health rather than leaving it in the hands of your General Practitioner, you are already on the right path! Please note: the idea is not to totally disregard the good work that your doctor is doing for you; it is rather a matter of making sure that you don't see him or her that often because you are healthy! If you had a choice between living well until you are dead vs. living with illness for the last 10-20 years prior to your death, which will you choose? The answer should be obvious. Why is it then that so many people willingly or unwillingly choose to suffer in their twilight years because they did not take care of themselves in the early years? We can have the short term pain of wellness discipline or the long term pain of sickness regret! Either one has a price to pay! We either pay for our wellness or we pay for our sickness, but boy-oh-boy, we are going to pay! I chose to pay for wellness! How about you?
The American Center for Health Statistics indicate that the top 8 leading causes of death in the USA, in descending order, are:
- Heart Disease
- Cancer
- Strokes
- Chronic Lower Respiratory Diseases
- Accidents
- Diabetes
- Alzheimer's Disease
- Influenza/Pneumonia
Do you know of someone close to you who are currently suffering or who have died from such diseases or from accidents? Fact is, most of us have to acknowledge that these statistics are fairly accurate no matter in which country we live in!
What is even more discomforting is that statistics show that the health care industry as it is today is the Number 1 killer of people, even above disease! Most often, even perfectly prescribed medicines cause the death of individuals due to adverse reactions! This gives new meaning to the statement: "An apple a day keeps the doctor away"! Or rather we should say "an apple a day keeps pharmaceuticals at bay", if you catch my drift.
The fact that our lifestyle and the current health care system are leading causes of death around the world, is quite sobering. Then again, if we don't care about our health and wellness, the truth really doesn't matter. It's still a choice!
What does the future hold for us? Will things become better with improved science? The World Health Organization predicts that by 2030 the top 4 leading causes of death will be heart disease, strokes, HIV/AIDS and chronic obstructive lower respiratory disease.
By 2030, our ageing world population will have suffered a staggering 30-40% increase in deaths related to these diseases (remember, they are mostly lifestyle-related diseases)! Now, I don't know about you, but by the look of things I am not getting any younger and neither should you (unless you are immortal)! Wouldn't you agree that it may be worthwhile to take better care of your health and wellness? There is an old saying that knowledge is power. This is simply not true. APPLIED knowledge is power. Right now, you may be more aware of the truth about how our lifestyles and our health care systems are damaging our health and wellness. But awareness or information is only knowledge. What are you willing to do with this knowledge?
Thomas Edison (1847-1931) stated that "The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and the cause and prevention of disease."
What does this mean for modern man? It means that a paradigm shift must take place in our fundamental understanding of health care. It means that we need to move from health (or sickness) care to wellness care!
The medical treatment path says that (a) we do nothing and wait for poor health to arrive, (b) we suppress symptoms through drug intervention, (c) we use drugs, surgery and radiation as exclusive treatment strategies and (d) we expose ourselves to a risky, toxic approach to sickness care without truly addressing the root cause of poor health.
Contrastingly, the wellness paradigm says that (a) we adopt a healthy lifestyle, (b) we support our physiology by supplementing deficient nutrients, (c) we compliment any medical treatment with nutrients that will support the body's normal functions and (d) we adopt a safe, non-toxic approach by working with the body through a wellness support program that taps into the very heart of health at cellular level.
The medical route says that we treat any disease and illness symptoms with medicine until our bodies are able to respond at cellular level. The natural route says that we must ensure that the cells in our body are healthy and functioning properly, just as God intended them to be!
HEALTHY CELLS = HEALTHY BODY!!
Think about it. Wouldn't you like to think more clearly during the day, look and feel better, manage stress more easily, sleep better, have increased libido, be lean and flexible, have fresh and supple skin and at least remember things again? Today, more and more people are realizing that they have to supplement their diets with alternative or complimentary 'medicines', or nutritional supplements! Over 62% of Americans have adopted this paradigm! Have you? If you haven't yet, are you willing to act now?
If you say YES, then read on!
For our body to function optimally, it requires a well balanced intake of the right amount of vitamins & minerals, essential amino acids and essential fatty acids. The word 'essential' refers to the fact that the body can not function without these nutrients, but also can not produce them by itself. It requires an external source, i.e. food or through supplementation.
Amino acids are the building blocks for muscular health. The 8 essential amino acids can readily be absorbed by eating protein foods such as fish, chicken and meat. Many active people such as athletes also supplement their diets with products such as propriety blend protein shakes to ensure that the right balance of amino acids are consumed. The world of body building is very familiar with this regimen in their diets.
Essential fatty acids such as Omega 3 are required, amongst others, for general cardiovascular health and brain functioning. When we eat e.g. deep-water fish, we will normally digest enough of the best quality of this nutrient for normal functioning. However, many reputable companies today also produce quality Omega 3 products (e.g. Nutrilite)which may help to counter the unhealthy diet of modern man.
The health benefits of vitamins & minerals and antioxidants are now well known by most people. We expect to attain the right amount and balance of these nutrients through our food intake, but as we have already mentioned earlier, our manufacturing processes and depleted soil have taken its toll on our food. Our fruits and vegetables just do not contain the same amount of vitamins & minerals compared to a century ago. Thus the need for supplementation.
Captain James Cook, who is famous for his exploration of the Pacific Islands, is also famous for curing Scurvy! All he did was to add limes (citrus or Vitamin C) to the sailor's diets. At the time, doctors were completely oblivious to the obvious! Captain Cook later on received a medal of honour for keeping his sailors alive at sea! Supplementation with the right vitamins & minerals has become a backbone in proper nutrition!
These nutrients form a crucial partnership for optimal health and wellness. But is it enough? Considering that many people still get sick, even though they supplement with good quality products, indicates that there may still be a missing link in our modern diet!
During the early 1950's, an experiment which involved the daily application of fresh aloe gel on the burn ulcers of patients having been exposed to radiation, showed indications of these ulcers diseappearing over time! However, this only worked with the application of fresh gel (old gel did not work). Scientists then realized that they have stumbled upon an active ingredient in aloe vera, but could neither pinpoint nor stabilize it, and further research was consequently abandoned.
Nearly 30 years later, in the 1980's, renewed research with better technology eventually lead to what is now regarded to be one of the 10 BIGGEST breakthroughs in emerging technology in the last 10 years! A secret locked up in nature for thousands of years was finally uncovered!
What was this secret? A simple sugar! No, not table sugar, but a sugar with the power to support the body in its ability to 'repair' itself! Can this be the missing link in our diet?
This discovery lead to a revolution in the field of Glycobiology, the study of the structure, biosynthesis and biology of saccharides (sugar chains). The discovery of the effect of at least 8 necessary 'sugars' or monosaccharides, called Glyconutrients, on cellular communication and optimal health and wellness in our bodies is probably the biggest breakthrough in medical science in the last 100 years!
According to Dr. Neecie Moore, author of 'The Missing Link: The Facts About Glyconutrients', "Glycobiology has achieved critical breakthroughs in the medical field, primarily by addressing what could be the greatest plague in health care today - autoimmune diseases" (such as multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, lupus, arthritis and diabetes). Scientific research has discovered that virtually all autoimmune disorders have altered glycoproteins hindering the body's communication. Glycoproteins are therefor a vital part of a person's DNA make-up.
Essential to this structure are 8+ natural sugars called monosaccharides, which attach to proteins in the DNA structure to form the glycoproteins. These glycoproteins communicate the cell's needs to other parts of the body. In layman's terms, the 8+ sugars make up the body's 'alphabetical code'. Similar to the 26 letters of the english alphabet, which when added together in words, phases and sentences, cause us to effectively communicate with each other, so do the 8+ sugars ensure proper communication among the cells in our body. Thus, the 8+ sugars cause optimal bodily function at cellular level!
For optimal cellular communication to take place, all 8+ of these biologically active sugars must be present. If a breakdown in communication takes place, then the cells in our body can more easily be attacked by foreign intruders such as infectious bacteria, viruses, fungi and toxins, resulting in disease/illness and other disorders (recall that almost all autoimmune disorders have altered glycoproteins).
Many people argue that these 8+ sugars are freely available in our food. However, as we have discussed earlier on, our food today is stripped of most nutrients by premature harvesting practices or by modern food manufacturing technologies. This is also true for the 8+ sugars, which are only present in perfectly vine ripened fruits and vegetables, which does not happen anymore. Our diet only retains two of the 8+ necessary sugars - glucose and galactose. Although the body can convert these sugars into the other 6+, the process is sluggish and reguires a lot of energy, which the body can not sacrifice on a constant basis.
The conclusion we can make is that our modern diet and technologies have caused us to become deficient of these life-giving sugars! The result is an alarming rise in disease and illness!
"The only efficient way to obtain the remaining six (sugars) is through glyconutrient supplements."
Dr. Neecie Moore
If you are sick and tired of being sick all the time, now is the time to do some more research on the field of Glycobiology and the desperate need for glyconutrient supplementation in our modern diet!
If you want to know more about the first and only patented glyconutrient supplementation in the world, read about it now! Otherwise, contact me for more information!
We now have discussed the crucial benefits of vitamins and minerals (and antioxidants), essential fatty acids and amino acids on the healthy functioning of the body. We have also added the breakthrough science of Glycobiology and glyconutrient supplementation to these three health benefactors.
For optimal health we have to use the best nutrition possible! If your diet is not optimal (and we know the modern diet is questionable), then you owe it to yourself to supplement your daily food intake with a superior vitamin/mineral supplement, Omega-3 fatty acids, an antioxidant and at least Glyconutrients!
For proper hormonal balance and functioning of your body's glandular system, supplementation with dioscorea (obtained from a specific mexican yam plant), will ensure optimal functioning of the body's mother hormone, DHEA. For more information regarding the latter, click on the attached link: Breakthrough Nutrition! I also recommend reading Dr. Moore's book! There are many other books available and I suggest you buy them and read as much as you can about Glyconutrients.
When we listen to the health concerns of the people around us, whether they are young or old, we become increasingly aware of the dire consequences of not taking care of our health and wellness when we don't need to.
We often recognise too late that the wrong assumptions and paradigms about pro-active health and wellness care vs. reactive health care have endangered our lives. All of us have come in contact with people who died prematurely because they just did not care about their health and wellness. If this is you right now, then make a better decision...CHOOSE LIFE!
